List of drugs that require cold storage


Some medications are sensitive to high or room temperature so the best practice is storing them in the refrigerator paying particular attention to not freezing them and transporting them in thermal bags better with synthetic ice. One should avoid excessive temperature changes, although sometimes a small variation can be tolerated as long as it is a short period of time. Here's a chart of medications that should be stored in the refrigerator:

1. Eye and ear drop: - (technically they can be kept at room temperature for 28 days after opening)Chloramphenicol, Cyclopentolate, Latonoprast, Latanoprost/Timolol, AzaSite.

2. Reconstituted Antibiotics: -Amoxicillin, Erythromycin, Augmentin

3. Tablets: Leukeran, Alkeran, Ritonavir, VePesid

4. Injections:- All insulin: - Vial in use may be kept at room temperature for 1 month.-Interferons eg. Pegasys, Forteo, Rebif -All vaccines -Byetta, Caverject, Botox, Humira, Epogen, DDAVP, Aranesp, Enbrel, Neupogen, Procrit, Sandostatin.

5. Other: Foster, Pulmozyme Nebuliser solution, MUSE urethral application - can be stored at room temperature for up to 14 days. Rapamune, Miacalcin Nasal, Phenergan Suppositories, Regranex, Nuvaring.
