Nocturnal enuresis is not an indication of SSRIs, it’s actually an indication of tricyclic antidepressants like Amitriptyline. SSRIs act specifically on the presynaptic serotonin reuptake channel called SERT. Zoloft® s the brand name of Sertraline. The only SSRI which should be taken with food is Vilazodone, the other SSRIs can be taken with or without food. SSRIs carry a black box warning concerning suicidal thoughts in children and young adults. Prozac® is the brand name of Fluoxetine. Weight gain is a typical side effect of SSRIs, along with sexual dysfunctions like retarded ejaculation. Linezolid and MAOIs can increase the risk of a life-threatening condition called serotonin syndrome. Paroxetine should be avoided in pregnancy. Off-label use of SSRIs is premature ejaculation.
